There’s always a sense of excitement and fandom that hits when we find lesser known artists. At live shows you can pay for a ticket, maybe meet said artist, and buy a sticker or hat to support their music. But sometimes the artist lives a long distance away from where you live, making it hard to attend a live show. Other times a world-wide pandemic hits, confining people to their homes, making live shows almost impossible to catch.
Considering the modern era in which we live, and especially in times like these, we want to share tips on all the small things we can do to support our favorite artists. We want to help answer a question we get a lot from fans and music lovers: “What are the best ways to support my favorite artists?”
Ways to Support Musicians
Listen to and stream music. We thank our fans for listening, in whatever form that may be.
Add the song(s) to some of your playlists. Especially on apps like Spotify, adding songs to a playlist is a great way to support artists that may not have millions of listeners (yet). The powers-that-be will take note of your playlist activity, increasing the chances of those who listen to similar types of music discovery said artist. Pretty cool!
Share the music with others. We tend to find most music through our friends and family. Music blogs are awesome, but the easiest way to support & spread awareness of artists is by word of mouth. Text links to friends, tag them in posts; anything helps really!
Go to shows. We can’t physically go to live shows with the current COVID-19 pandemic. However, live streams are becoming more and more popular! Watch the artist’s live-stream and, if you’re able to, maybe throw a few bucks their way to show your support.
Buying merchandise. Wearing official shirts and hats help spread the word about the artist, and while you are feeling that soft, comfy concert t-shirt, the artists are feeling the love.
It means so much to us when fans let us know how our music has affected their lives. We ask if it’s impacted your life in some way, to share your story with us and others! With most things, it helps to have positive feedback & to know if you’re moving in the right direction. With music, it’s the same thing. When we hear you love a song and what it means to you, we don’t take that lightly! Yes, we write songs that are close to us, but we also try to project how it will make the listener think and feel.
